A small number of the West Australian-German Friendship Group were invited to dinner by MLA Sabine Winton at Parliament House on Tuesday 28 November 2023. Stephan Kirsch, the President of WAGBA, attended, along with several WAGBA committee members, including Torsten Ketelsen OAM, and Pamela Millar. Karin Tramp-Lutz, a member of WAGBA and Tanja Colgan, the President of TAGWA, were also invited. Served with delectable food and complimentary wines, the members had the wonderful privilege of admiring the building’s interiors with its lovely woodwork, paintings, and stained-glass windows.

Sabine expressed her regrets for not being able to host a larger gathering owing to the limited availability of resources whilst planning but has reassured the attendees of a special event for 2024, likely to be around the “Tag der Deutschen Einheit”; something the members will be sure to look forward to.

At the close of dinner, Sabine Winton conducted the group on a short tour of the two chambers and gave attendees her personal view of the joys and challenges that come with being a minister in the WA Government.

It was certainly a most enjoyable and informative evening, and all who were present were impressed by the commendable efforts of the Minister for Early Childhood Education; Child Protection; Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence; and Community Services. WAGBA would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to MLA Sabine Winton for hosting this engaging event, as well as to all the attendees that contributed to the vibrant atmosphere of the dinner. We look forward to seeing you next year at another one of Sabine’s wonderful events!
